The latest trailer returns "Persona" fans through the Velvet Room, a dream space where players can sort through their captured personas and fuse them together to recreate a lot more powerful beings. The old Igor is back and now rendered in a terrifying three dimension. Although his assistants named Caroline and Justine are new, this time the velvet room is rendered more like a prison that the "Persona's" protagonist will be captured in. "Persona" fusion can now be depicted through lovingly rendered executions, which some players will find weird.
When the protagonist of "Persona 5" goes to sleep, he does not dream like a normal Japanese High schooler. He gets transported to a place that exists between the dream and reality, mind and matters. The place where fate has made it look like a horrible prison. A place where sacrifice can create power, and where a familiar face will surely assist the leader of the Phantom Thieves in reaching his full potential. So players need to get ready to say hello again to Igor because the Velvet room is back.
For those who are not familiar with the Velvet Room, it is a special area where the so-called "personas" can be played around with. In other words, the room is where personas collected in the Metaverse can be upgraded and turned into items or undergo fusion. Fusion allows personas to be fused together to create a new and a stronger one. There are three ways to fuse personas, basic fusion lets any two personas to be fused together, while the advanced fusion is preset and will require three or more. Personas will need to be executed via guillotine to undergo the aforementioned fusions so players need to remember that their noble sacrifice when the Velvet Room wardens, Caroline and Justine drop the blade.
