It has just been announced that the popular gag anime series, “Nobunaga no Shinobi” will be getting a second season. Otherwise known as “Ninja Girl & Samurai Master”, the said anime will be airing its new season this April. The announcement was made through the fifth issue of Hakusensha’s Young Animal manga magazine, a popular Japanese publication.
Along with the announcement was a teaser poster giving fans a preview of familiar characters. It has also been announced that prior to the release of the anime’s second season, the 11th compilation of the original manga will be out in stores. The said book compilation will include a DVD that consists of the anime’s first 14 episodes and will be shipped starting Feb. 28.
The comedy historical animated series, “Nobunaga no Shinobi” was adapted from the four-panel manga created by Naoki Shigeno. The said anime series made its debut with 21 episodes on Tokyo MX and TV Aichi in October 2016. Crunchyroll started simulcasting the said series under the title, “Ninja Girl & Samurai Master”.
Though each episode of the anime series ran for barely four minutes, “Nobunaga no Shinobi” attracted viewers because of its colorful animation, light story, and hilarious approach to the historical adventures of a ninja. The story follows the life of Chidori, a young female ninja, referred to as kunoichi, who goes on various investigative and infiltration missions given by the ambitious warlord, Nobunaga Oda. Her ditzy and dense personality taints her reputation as a highly skilled ninja.
The main story of the anime series is not yet clear but it shows progress while pursuing the adventures of Chidori with the supervision of Nobunaga Oda and the rest of the Oda clan. Each episode airs a new different mission and introduces various relevant characters. Since the anime television series follows the manga, the story for “Nobunaga no Shinobi” Season 2 will most likely pick up where the first season ended.
