According to Inquisitr, the show's renewal went in danger when news revealed that Emmy Rossum was still on the verge of deciding if she would continue the series or not. Negotiations for her contract became vital for the consideration of the upcoming season. Just last year, publications admitted that "Shameless" is renewed for another season and fans are hoping that it won't be the last.
With regards to Rossum, her sentiments in the show were already resolved and the actress is already pumped up to go back on the set. As she shared on her Twitter account:

News reported that the upcoming installment would start where the 7th season left off. It can be recalled that the past season's finale revolved around the funeral of Monica and how it affected the lives of Gallagher children. Moreover, Lip would try to go back to school while Fiona became the owner of a specific establishment. With this, fans couldn't wait to witness what could happen on the other characters of the hit comedy show.

On the other hand, "Shameless" Season 8 would also feature Fiona and her pursuit in finding the perfect man for her life. Sources told that the character might face another romantic. With this, show's Executive Producer Krista Vernoff shared the reason behind Fiona's endless love journey:
"We have just found, probably selfishly as writers, that there's great material in Fiona's relationships. Also, there's a lot of women in our writers' room and none of us took breaks from dating in our early twenties. We didn't [think], 'Maybe I should spend some time alone,' until we were older than Fiona."
Speculations also revealed that Fiona and Sean might rekindle their romance in the near future.
