According to several reports, the Land Rover, and Range Rover have ventured towards the SUV territory. The sudden move should be no less shocking, of course, than its sister brand Jaguar producing the hugely successful F-Pace, which also uses Land Rover components; Jaguar could soon be repaying the favor.
New Jaguar-esque SUV
"The thing about the Range Rover as a brand is that it has massive equity. It has equity that is comparable to certain fashion brands, not because it's clearly fashionable but in terms of the sales margins," Gerry McGovern, Official Designer for the Land Rover, said
"I would argue that the Range Rover, as a brand, is peerless, there's nothing else like it. We have proven it with things like the Evoque, and we will likely prove it again with the Velar that we have the ability to evolve and stretch to have a much greater resonance in the marketplace."
About the Range Rover Velar
According to Stuff, the Range Rover is set to be introduced with a fourth model named the Velar. Switching to the Velar, McGovern was very much keen to retain some mystery before the official launch of Range Rover's all-new model, which will sit between the Range Rover Sport and the Evoque, but he also insisted that it was not a coupe, and even rejected comparisons with the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X6 Coupe.
According to Car Magazine, McGovern later on added even if People criticize him, the new Range Rover brand is still going to be on fire. "The proof of the pudding is going to be how these cars sell out, and when you see the Velar, you will be quite surprised by it, and you really will. It really is a masterpiece class in a modernist, less-is-more approach."
This would then surely add up to the competition that Jaguar might soon face. Whichever the case is, Jaguar will be at its best to effectively compete in the market.
