Chinese smartphones are popping out here and there. Some with amazing specs while some will just make you question why was it even created. However, despite all of that, it is well-known that most Chinese smartphones are indeed affordable and with this article, the Xiaomi Mi 5C and Vivo Y66 specs and features get the spotlight.
The Price
The Xiaomi Mi 5C is reported to retail at around 1499 Yuan, which translates roughly to around $218. As for the Vivo Y66, the price tag it carries is Yuan 1498, which also translates to $218.
The Launch
The Xiaomi Mi 5C is expected to come this year with no specific date as of now. Meanwhile, the Vivo Y66 is only currently available in China, as it was launched back in December 2016 and is believed to arrive in India soon.
The Design
There is a new leak of what the Xiaomi Mi 5C's phone design could be. It is said to feature a metal body design. As for the Vivo Y66, it features a body dimension of 153.56 x 75.79 x 7.94 mm and weighs 157 grams.
The Display
The Xiaomi Mi 5C is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display along with a 5-finger gesture support. Its screen resolution is said to be 1920 x 1080 pixels. Meanwhile, the Vivo Y66 features a 5.5-inch HD IPS 2.5D Gorilla Glass Display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
The Platform
The Xiaomi Mi 5C is reported to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Xiaomi's MIUI 8 OS on top of it. In regards to its chipset, previous reports suggest that the device will either be launched with the company's in-house processor known as Pinecone or with MediaTek's Helio P10 SoC. However, just a few days ago, a new leak suggested a Snapdragon 821 chip instead. Just to add more confusion, the Xiaomi Mi 5C was spotted on GFXBench with a Snapdragon 425 chip.
On the other hand, the Vivo Y66 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with a FunTouch 2.6 on top of it. It is packed with a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and an Adreno 505 for its GPU.
The Internal Memory
The Xiaomi Mi 5C is said to feature 64 GB with 3 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Vivo Y66 offers 32 GB with 3 GB of RAM and an expandable memory option via microSD card.
The Camera
In the earlier reports, the Xiaomi Mi 5C was rumored to have a 12 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. Now, reports are suggesting that it will have a 12 MP rear camera and 7 MP front camera with several other features such as face detection, flash and touch focus. As for the Vivo Y66, this smartphones features a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5 MP front camera. Both cameras come with an aperture of f/2.2.
The Battery
The Xiaomi Mi 5C is reported to be powered by a 3,200 mAh battery. For the Vivo Y66, some reports claim it houses a 3,000 mAh battery while other reports claim 2,930 mAh. Aside from that, it is also reported to have a fast charging feature.
