Sony seems to be on track to launch the much-anticipated PlayStation 4 (PS4) sometime in 2013 and many gamers are quite excited with the new features such as the 'share button' on the controller. However, a recent report suggests that the share button can be disabled by game developers.
The share button will allow PS4 users to upload video from their game at almost any time.
"We were trying to think of a way to make it easier for users to upload video, and one day a member of our in-house production team just said, 'How about a Share button?' We called out in unison, 'That's it!'" Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, said.
However, Yoshida also added "There will be parts of a game that the maker does not want people to be able to see," he said. "For example, on Vita, developers can in certain scenes disable the feature that lets users take a screenshot, and (the Share function) will have a similar mechanism. The creator may not want to make video of the final boss sharable, for instance."
Sony claims that the Share button will add a new dimension to gaming because it will make it easier for players to evaluate games before buying them and will allow communities to form quickly around certain titles.
The PS4 is expected to launch by the end of this year and a recent report indicates that the gamers will be able to take a shot at the latest gaming console at the GameStop Expo in August.
Millions of gamers are eagerly waiting for the release of PS4 and Sony will have a lot of pressure as expectations of gamers are quite high and the Japanese company will want to deploy its best in the upcoming gaming console.
