2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: Everything We Know So Far

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has been generating a lot of hype among enthusiasts with its promise to be more powerful than the Hellcat. Since its announcement, the automaker promised to release weekly video teasers leading up to the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show. Dodge has delivered on its promise and here's what we know so far.

2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: The Possible Powertrain

One of the biggest mysteries shrouding the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is how much power it will be able to generate. We already know that it will be more powerful than the outgoing Dodge Challenger Hellcat but it simply begs the question of how much more powerful will it be? We also know that the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will draw power from a different version of an intercooled and supercharged Hemi V8 that is also found in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, which dishes out 707 horsepower.

According to Car and Driver, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon may arrive with about 815 horsepower and more than 700 pound-feet of torque. This amount of power is expected to be delivered through an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration by an automatic transmission that has a torque converter. Accordingly, the transmission is basically made for drag racing and it is capable of multiplying torque better by 18 percent than the outgoing Hellcat.

2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: What Else Is There?

Thanks to several video teasers, we are able to put a few pieces of the puzzle together. Apparently, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be fitted with a set of 315/40R-18 Nitto N05R drag radials. Accordingly, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be the first production car that will come with drag tires upon its release. The tires are also not just about the go as they are also quite stylish in the way they bear the Demon-head logo on their sidewalls.

Among the other details revealed by the weekly video teasers include the weight reduction for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Apparently, Dodge has removed a lot of things from the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon to make it 200 pounds lighter than the Hellcat. In addition, it would seem that Dodge has also removed the passengers' seats for the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon. That being said, you may need to come up with a different plan if you were thinking about going on joyrides with some of your buddies in the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: The Drawback

While many people patiently wait for each weekly teaser from Dodge for the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon, there are those that are already getting sick of the way the automaker is handling things. According to report, these weekly teasers are not helping Dodge at all. Considering how there are several more teasers to go that basically reveal so little about the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, many of us are starting to find this to be more annoying than exciting. Apparently, many enthusiasts are already losing interest and if Dodge is planning to keep this up, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon might just end up being out of the fight before it even steps on the battlefield.
