‘Sherlock' Season 5 Update: Benedict Cumberbatch Landing Another Series Just Sealed The Fate Of 'Sherlock'

This will be hard to accept for “Sherlock” fans but there might not be a Season 5. The main character on the show, Benedict Cumberbatch just confirmed that he just landed a new TV series role.

'Sherlock' The Beginning Of The End

Ever since season 4 ended, there are some speculations about the show being canceled. It started when a respected magazine reported about an ongoing issue between the cast and the crew. The alleged issue grew bigger when one of the cast stated that he is no longer interested in creating another season. The producer and director of the show also commented on the current state of “Sherlock”. Steve Moffat stated that he is okay with the show being canceled as he had proven himself already. For those who aren’t familiar, Moffat is also the man responsible for the TV series, Doctor Who.

Based on the comments from their legions of fans, they have mixed reactions with the show being pulled off. Some of the fans find the show very boring and predictable, that’s why canceling it won’t really matter to them. While most of the fans are begging for another season due to how season 4 has ended. The viewership for “Sherlock” Season 4 drastically declined, especially with their last 3 episodes. Apparently, they weren’t able to follow up their initial episode and that’s not really new to a TV series.

Cumberbatch and Freeman Are Ready To Move On

As for the main characters, as stated, Benedict Cumberbatch has landed another series. Cumberbatch will also lead the short movie remake titled “A Child In Time. Martin Freeman known as Dr. John Watson has some plans on his own.The actor who is famous for his portrayal of Bilbo Baggins from the movie trilogy “The Hobbit” has set his sights in doing some cameo appearances. However, never say never as life in TV series is very unpredictable.
