There's a lot happening this May. Nokia has a press event in London on May 14, Verizon is holding a "special announcement" event on May 22 and now LG has sent out press invitations for an event on May 30 taking place in Macau.
The tagline on the LG invitation says "ImaGination Begins" with a bold 'G' that may hint at the launch of the next-generation Optimus G2.
Recently, @evleaks also leaked an image of what could be the LG Optimus G2. The leaked image of the handset does not have any buttons on its surface. The display of the handset seems very large and some say it could be as big as that found on the Optimus G Pro at 5.5 inches. The screen also has slight curves around the edges of the handset.
The LG Optimus G2 is expected to have a 1080p display with 440 pixels per inch (ppi) Full HD LCD display. Rumors also suggest that the handset will include a Qualcomm 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. The Optimus G2 is also expected to have a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.
With the latest Anroid 4.2 Jelly Bean making its way to new handsets like Samsung Galaxy S4, smartphone enthusiasts will want the Optimus G2 to run on the latest operating system. Rumors also suggest that the Optimus G2 will be exclusive to U.S. carrier AT&T.
Many top-end smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, BlackBerry Z10 and more have made their way to shelves recently and it seems that we will see more top-end smartphones coming our way in the near future.
If LG announces the Optimus G2 on May 30, can the company attract customers to the latest offering?
