Hyundai Reveals A Refreshed Look For 2018 Sonata

Hyundai has recently released a couple of teaser for its 2018 Sonata in the form of sketches and it reveals a new look for the abovementioned model. The teaser sketches were posted by Hyundai on its Facebook page and from the looks of it, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata may just go toe-to-toe with the upcoming Toyota Camry.

The Frontal Sketch

CNET reported that the sketches basically show how the Korean sedan has gone through its evolution over the years. The first sketch shows the front section of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata where notable changes include an expanded grille along with a hexagonal maw that reaches all the way to the front bumper's bottom section. In addition, Hyundai has added sharp air intakes for the 2018 Sonata that is located under its headlights that have also been made sleeker than the previous models.

The Rear Section Sketch

It was reported that the changes in the rear section are even more obvious than those that are made in the front section. Apparently, the taillights have been more triangular and the spoiler lip of the trunk's lid appears to have grown a bit. In addition, the rear diffuser along with its quad tailpipes gives the 2018 Hyundai Sonata in the 2.0T sketch a meaner look.

No Clues About The Powertrain Yet

According to Motor Authority, details regarding updates in the mechanical aspect such as whether or not there will be upgrades in the powertrain have not yet been revealed. It was mentioned however, that the six-speed automatic in the current model may be replaced with a new eight-speed gearbox. It would also seem that the automaker is currently in the process of developing a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine, which may be fitted in the upcoming Sonata.

An Unconfirmed Debut

Reports stated that the 2018 Hyundai Sonata has not yet revealed when it will make its appearance on the market. However, there is a strong possibility that the 2018 Hyundai Sonata will make its debut at the upcoming 2017 Ney York Auto Show that is scheduled to take place in April. It remains to be seen whether or not the 2018 Hyundai Sonata will really show itself at the abovementioned event.
