Despite her directorial debut at the Sundance Film Festival and fame in Hollywood, Kristen Stewart's controversial past with "Twilight" costar Robert Pattinson is still linked to her everywhere she goes.
The breakup, which occurred in 2013, was publicized after photos showing Kristen kissing her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders. During their relationship, however, she kept relatively tight-lipped about her personal life. Now, Kristen has finally put it all out there in a talk with London's Sunday Times.
Breakup Recall
The 26-year-old actress shared, "I didn't talk about my first relationships that went public because I wanted things that are mine to be mine. I hated it that details of my life were being turned into goods and touted around the world."
But as time goes by, she understood that relationship conflicts are universal encounters and they affect "a greater number of people" than just herself. "It was an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves," she added.
Since going public with her relationships, Kristen echoes that in an ideal world, while she "would have kept her life private," she was challenged with the choice of not being able to "walk outside holding somebody's hand."
The Public Was The Reason
"When I was dating Rob, the public were the enemy and there's no way to live outside of it," she adds.
Stewart claims that the outcome of their breakup was because of the "Twilight fans." "I don't view the whole Twilight blow-up as being generally traumatic," she admitted. Robert Pattinson's ex-girlfriend elaborated that she wanted to keep things personal that's why she didn't discuss her former relationships to the public.
