Samsung is expected to announce the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini in the near future, but that hasn't stopped the smartphone from leaking in new online images.
Samsung is very good at squeezing as much as possible out of each smartphone family it makes. The Samsung Galaxy S3 was such a popular smartphone that Samsung decided to make a similar looking device, with a smaller display, lower specs, and a cheaper price. Samsung is playing that card all over with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
Phone Arena posted a slideshow showing off the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and even how it looks next to its older sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S4. The site claims that the smartphone could be announced this month along with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. The Galaxy S4 Active will be a ruggedized Galaxy S4 variant, a good move since some Galaxy S4 cases are cracking. The Galaxy S4 Zoom will be targeted towards camera buffs; latest rumors claim the smartphone will have a 16-megapixel camera with 10X optical zoom.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini is expected to feature a 4.3-inch 256ppi (pixels per inch) Super AMOLED qHD display, Android 4.2.1 with Samsung's Nature UX 2.0 running on top of it, 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, front-facing camera, removable battery, and will ship in a dual-sim variant model as well.
A few years ago a smartphone with a 4.3-inch screen would never be called "mini". Samsung can be credited with really changing the public's perception of how big smartphones can be; we saw it with the hugely successful Galaxy Note 2's 5.5-inch display. The Galaxy S4 mini is just another way Samsung is trying to give its customers another choice in size.
