Samsung makes the world's most popular smartphones and likes to wrap them in plastic. The Korean smartphone maker is reportedly going to move from plastic to aluminum with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, as it has seen HTC's success in using anodized aluminum with the HTC One. There's new evidence that the Samsung Galaxy S4's plastic case is beginning to crack for owners of the just-released smartphone.
It's not uncommon for the first round of inventory for a new smartphone to have some issues in software or build. When Apple began shipping the iPhone 5, many customers began reporting that the smartphone's paint started chipping away. Apple responded with:
"Any aluminum product may scratch or chip with use, exposing its natural silver color. That is normal."
A new report from SAMMOBILE claims that the Samsung Galaxy S4 the site has been using has already started to come apart at the seams. The site posted images showing the damage on a Samsung Galaxy S4 that has been taken good care of and never dropped. When taken in for a repair estimate the site claims, "Research by our repair center found out that a screen of the Galaxy S4 will cost €140 ex VAT."
That cost reportedly includes replacing the OLED screen of the Samsung Galaxy S4. There was no mention that the display also stopped working on the smartphone. It's not clear if this is just a single factory build mistake or something that could affect other Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones. This should be covered by Samsung's warranty and hopefully it is just an isolated incident. If you purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4, does your smartphone show any sign of this issue?
