While the Nintendo Switch only has extremely limited games at the moment, the company has more plans of bringing over new titles to the system. However, one franchise, Monster Hunter, seems to deserve a place on the hybrid console's library.
Nintendo And Capcom's Mutual History
Nintendo has shared a picture in the past with a list of all the third party developers they are working with for the Switch. Notably, Capcom was included among others as the said developer has a pretty solid relationship with Nintendo over the last few years as every new installment in the hunting franchise has made it to the 3DS. In line with this, it seems only fitting that the Switch gets its own game from the titular franchise.
With the latest spinoff title having already been announced for the 3DS, it might be possible that the next game in the mainline series might make its way to the Switch. Incidentally, the said spinoff is actually getting a collaboration event with Hunter x Hunter, as per Siliconera.
Since the franchise has always been weaker in the West, releasing the next installment on a console might just give the series the popularity boost it needs. In line with this, PVP Live reports the main reasons why the hunting game would play extremely well, if not perfectly, on the Switch.
Reasons Why Monster Hunter Was Meant For The Switch
To begin with, the hybrid console's controllers are a step up from that of the 3DS. While some players struggled to control their characters on the handheld, the Switch has a more standardized ergonomics despite its quirky design. Moreover, even if players refuse to play with the console's Joycons, they can purchase a Pro Controller instead.
On the other hand, one of the more celebrated upgrades for the Switch version would be the graphics. Despite the handheld's lack of power, Capcom was still able to provide fans with great landscapes and amazing monsters. The Switch can enhance this experience along with providing players with a bigger screen to play on.
Finally, the Switch offers the players the option to have multiplayer on the go as the hybrid console can also act as a handheld device. While the system's battery life may be a concern, it is more than likely that players will have a power outlet nearby when playing long sessions with friends.
While Capcom has yet to officially announce a Monster Hunter title for the Nintendo Switch, it might seem likely that they will develop one sooner or later. Until then, fans can play the latest XX installment on the 3DS.
