An Android 4.1.2 update has arrived for Samsung Galaxy S3 devices on different carriers, including Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Verizon and AT&T, and now the time has come for T-Mobile users to get a taste of Jelly Bean sweetness.
The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update became available on Monday May 13 and is available over-the-air (OTA). Among the updates available with the upgrade are Samsung's "multi-window" feature, which has been seen on the Galaxy S4. The feature allows the screen to be split among two different applications running at the same time. Other new additions include lock screen changes, a new "4G" logo and the new "Paper Artist" app.
The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is over 186MB large. You can check if the update is available by going to Settings → About Phone → Software Updates.
An Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update arrived for AT&T users of the Galaxy S3 in early January. Sprint users got upgraded even earlier, receiving the update back in October. U.S. Cellular rolled out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 users in March. The update was also made available for Verizon users that same month.
As for an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-i19300), the update has become available via custom ROM. The CM10.1 ROM is only for the international variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3, which runs on the Exynos processor. Among the improvements are lock screen gadgets, a new camera app, Google Now and more.
