Final Fantasy XV Gladiolus DLC Has A 'Little Surprise' At The End

Square Enix reveals the finer details about the Final Fantasy XV Gladiolus DLC and how it will bring back players who have already finished the main game. On the other hand, fans who manage to beat the bonus content will be in for a "little surprise" that teases the next episode.

In the main game, players were limited to controlling Noctis during his journey in Eos. Despite the colorful cast that fans meet throughout the journey, the sole purpose of the game is to observe everything through the prince's eyes. However, fans will now be able to try new characters starting with the first four character episodes via downloadable content (DLC) that will focus on Noctis's three companions.

Main Producer Shares Details About Final Fantasy XV Gladiolus DLC

To begin with, players will begin their new journey with Gladiolus as he aims to gain more power by undertaking a dangerous trial. In line with this, main producer Haruyoshi Sawatari shed some more light on the upcoming side story during an interview with GameSpot.

He stated that the DLC takes place after the team had an unfortunate run-in with Ravus at an enemy base. Back then, Gladio believed he lacked the power to be the Shield of the King, which will be the main focus in the upcoming episode. On the other hand, most of the action will take place in these treacherous ruins that were discovered 30 years in the past.

That aside, Sawatari claimed that the core of the side story is about Gladio and will show different cutscenes that were not in the story. Since players have already had "hundreds of hours" as Noctis, he believes that this different experience will bring back players who have already completed the game.

Meanwhile, Sawatari also delved into the combat system as he explained that while Noctis was more on mobility, Gladio is more action-oriented. He relies less on his ability sets and is more direct when in combat. Even so, the producer claimed that there is a sense of "duality" with his character wherein fans will have to make the most out of his offensive and defensive capabilities.

Second Episode Hint After The First DLC

On a different note, Dual Shockers reports that the DLC is about "giving back to fans" while creating more content so that they will continue to enjoy the game. Similarly, he claimed that there will be "a little surprise" regarding Episode Prompto for players who finish the Gladio DLC. While he had not shared any further details, this might come in the form of a teaser trailer or possible easter egg.

Fans will finally be able to play the Final Fantasy XV Gladiolus DLC on March 28. Square Enix plans to release the Episode Prompto by June while Episode Ignis has no release date as of now. Those who want to try the main game can get a copy for the PS4 or Xbox One.
