The inarguably hit comedy flick, "How I Met Your Mother" has been off television for almost three years now, but fans of the sitcom are still patiently waiting to see its spinoff.
However, "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff series, "How I Met Your Father", may not be airing its pilot episode again this year, as reports reveal that "This is Us" season 2 has become the priority of the people behind the two shows. Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger who were supposed to write the spinoff series will be fully-loaded with "This is Us" as they take new responsibilities from being former co-executive producers to being showrunners.
"How I Met Your Mother" franchise is again compromised, and the network has nothing yet to say about the situation. It can be recalled that the show had its several unfortunate cases. First, when the show was heavily criticized for its series finale. Fans of the show noticed the seemingly rushed wrap-up of the series and many has questioned the ending of the characters. Furthermore, the show was then criticized for allegedly patronizing racism where the stars of the seemed to mock Kung Fu movies.
Next, when "How I Met Your Dad" starring Greta Gerwig was filmed but was never aired on TV. The spinoff series has been ordered by CBS while "How I Met Your Mother" season 9 was going down. Re-piloting then was announced and the executives of the network apologized, but the franchise apparently resorted to creating another spinoff series that will retell the story in a female perspective.
Yet again, "How I Met Your Father" will be shelved to give way to "This is Us" season 2. The turn of events is creating a dismay among "How I Met Your Mother" fans but they might still want to remain hopeful as the show has not yet been canceled. CBS has not yet given any statement about the issue. Hence, fans might want to wait for more concrete updates that will confirm the status of "How I Met Your Father."
