Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has shared some details regarding future tweaks for the Mystery Heroes mode. Meanwhile, fans should expect more lore updates to come soon.
Overwatch Mystery Heroes Mode Getting Some Tweaks
According to PVP Live, Kaplan has taken to the game's official forums to announce that he and the team are looking for ways to further improve the Mystery Heroes mode. To begin with, they plan on removing the "assemble your heroes" moment, which the team can now fix. On the other hand, he stated that the team is still torn with players keeping their ultimate charges or not after they die.
Furthermore, Kaplan mentioned how the eliminations in the said mode are impactful and charging up for an ultimate is a "special occasion." However, he also noted how it "feels off" when players get the same heroes twice with the ultimate charge resetting. At its current state, Mystery Heroes is still a great way to practice new characters, as players have no control over which person or omnic they will get. In line with this, fans will more or less get a better understanding of how a certain hero works afterward.
In spite of the announcement, the game director was quick to note that these changes are not their "highest priority issue" as it seems like they still have a lot of things to cover first. Even so, he hopes to see the changes soon on the Public Test Region (PTR).
More Lore On The Way
That aside, lead writer Michael Chu claimed that they have so many different stories to tell and they are trying to find other ways to show it, as per Express. One thing that fans should expect more of are origin stories, which will be portrayed as short films or comic strips. Similarly, Blizzard recently released a new comic called Binary, which stars both Bastion and Torbjorn.
The Overwatch lore is still expanding as new heroes are still being added to the roster and easter eggs are popping up in new maps. Those who want to play the first-person shooter can purchase a copy for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
