Accessing Gay Dating Site Grind: UK Parliament Computers Had Over 250,000 Attempts In One Month

Gay dating site "Grindr," as well as other explicit sites, is banned in the UK House of Commons. However, that has not stopped people over there from trying to access it anyway. According to a recent report, there were more than 250,000 attempts to visit the site from office computers in just one month.

The insider information comes out in public because of a Freedom of Information enquiry into the matter. Computer experts list all websites which Lords, MPs and other staff visit, including the ones that are banned. In December, while popular dating site like Tinder got 1,000 login attempts, gay dating site Grindr got 272,000 hits. Other blocked websites, which got hundreds of attempts, include YouPorn, Gaydar, Swinging Heaven and Fab Swingers.

According to the computer log, around 3,000 attempts were made to visit a dedicated gay porn website. A website, dedicated to cross-dressers, had around 500 attempts, and escort service website Adultwork had 100 login attempts. In addition, the users also tried to access the websites which might allow them to dodge the filter and access the blocked sites, the FOI request reveals.

A Parliamentary spokesperson reveals that the computer network at the UK Parliament blocks all adult sites. The number of attempts includes Pop-up adverts, which the users are not even aware of. "This data also covers personal devices used when logged on to Parliament's guest Wi-Fi," the Daily Mirror quoted the spokesperson as saying.

Grindr earlier removed a T-shaped "gaymoji" from its collection. Grindr removed the gay emoji, as it is "slang for Tina, aka Christina, a slang for crystal meth," The Guardian reported. Grindr originally wanted to follow the letter with the D to make DT, which would mean "down to." The expression is followed by whatever a user wants to do at that moment.
