It is still quite rare that hybrids are in the performance car category, let alone in the high-end part of it. That makes the 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid its unique status, as it gives hybrid cars much elegance. Porsche could give a boost for the hybrid category with its Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.
The Panamera might be a hybrid, but it isn't lacking in power. At 680 hp it is as powerful as a hybrid car can get. This power is supplied by a 4.0-liter V8 engine. This gives the car the power it needs to make it to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds.
It will also need that much power since the Panamera isn't exactly light either at 5,200 pounds. That is much body weight for a sports sedan. Weight though becomes less of an issue with the engine that it has on it.
The Panamera has all the eye trappings of the 911 Carrera, only it is in the form of a four-door sports sedan. It also has much weight coming with it. Adding to this weight is its battery pack, which already is 300 pounds heavy. Adding even more to it are its electric motor and electric control units, according to Car and Driver. It is 700 pounds heavier than the Panamera Turbo.
Its price is also just as heavy, coming in at $185,450. That is more than the base model for the Panamera Turbo. Still, even with all that weight and price, the Panamera R E-Hybrid is still a car that has much capabilities, per engadget. It has gadgets to make it useful such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen that features the Porsche Communication Management system.
The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is Porsche's take on embracing green technology. It shows that green technology need not be in a form of a slow car. Not when it is the Panamera E-Hybrid, which gives green technology elegance. The future for green technology in the auto industry would be great with cars like it. Porsche has also come out with its 2018 911 GT3 recently.
