Sony is on fire this year as the company preps up for four new Xperia smartphones. Sony revealed two new lines during the Mobile World Congress last month - one pair of high-end phones and one pair of upper midrange phones. On the higher end of the spectrum were the Xperia XZ Premium and the Xperia XZs. On the lower end, on the other hand, were the Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium And XZs
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is probably one of the best phones on the market when it comes to the display resolution. This 5.46-inch phone has 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution or 807 pixels per inch. As per Digital Trends, Sony took its TV's HDR technology to the Xperia XZ Premium, making its white brighter, its black darker and its colors more vivid.
The Sony Xperia XZs, on the other hand, is pretty much a lower version of the XZ Premium. It doesn't have the high-end display technology of the XZ and it is powered by an older processor. Do note that the XZ Premium comes with a Snapdragon 835 chipset while the Xperia XZs has the Snapdragon 820. Nevertheless, the remainder of the specs of the two phones are pretty similar. Both phones run Android Nougat from the box and are waterproof. Both the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs are also equipped with 19 MP rear cameras and 13 MP front cameras.
Sony Xperia XA1 And XA1 Ultra
The Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra may not be as premium as the other two Sony smartphones but they are far from "cheaply-spec'd" either. Do note that these two phones also run Nougat from the box and come with a massive 23 MP rear camera. Nevertheless, display-wise, the Xperia XA1, and XA1 Ultra are pretty midrange in nature. The former has a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution while the Ultra version comes with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Among the two, only the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is a phablet at 6-inch display-size. The regular Sony Xperia XA1 is smaller with a 5-inch display.
