For a long time now, fans have been sulking on the game's report system; pointing out that the current feature can be gravely exploited and misused. However, it appears that Blizzard has finally found the right augmentation of the existing report system, capable of filtering reprobate players thanks to its elaborate details and intricacy. Here's the full story.
Overwatch : Report System 2.0
Blizzard has unveiled the new report system currently live on the Overwatch PTR. The feature enables one to report any player for the following issues: Poor Teamwork, Spam, Cheating, Griefing, Bad Battletag and Inactivity. Furthermore, in order to discourage players to submit false reports, the feature also defines each sanction clearly.
For example, Poor Teamwork is defined as "not trying to complete map objectives or constantly communicating in a negative fashion (i.e. 'this team is horrible.')." Furthermore, Blizzard also defines what is not Poor Teamwork, stating that it is not "playing a hero that is not considered optimal by the community or staying silent in the team voice chat."
According to Blizzard, the revamp of the report system hopes to improve the gaming experience of the community, and as such, must be used wisely. The team is now awaiting for feedbacks from the PTR community - which is now, showing promising results.
Is The New Report System Viable?
In the Overwatch subreddit, the new report system generally received positive feedbacks from most players, citing that the new feature may very well work "exactly as intended." Meanwhile, other players also noted that the system should also incorporate a notification menu whenever a reported player has been sanctioned for its misconducts - similar to that of Dota 2 and League of Legends. With the community praising the new feature, it is highly likely that the new system will go to the live version soon. However, it's still unclear whether or not it will come to the console version.
