The Lamborghini Huracán Performante is currently the fastest car off the production line. With the vehicle's record of 06:52 at the Green Hell, it was able to dethrone the Porsche 918 Spyder off its crown. Nevertheless, speed is not the only amazing thing about the new Lamborghini car. The company's head of R&D gave further details on how the new Lambo was able to achieve such triumphs.
Digital Trends was able to sit down with Maurizio Reggiani and get some idea as to how the company was able to create the fastest production car. To clear things out, the term Performante simply implies the high level of performance that the new Lambo car can do. Reggiani explains that the reason why the Performante exists is the fact that it was a product of strategy, as per source.
What is means is that every time the company builds a top notch sports car, they also develop another version that is more extreme than the original. Reggiani shared that in the Aventador family, there is the Superveloce while in the Gallardo family, there is the Superleggera. This time around, however, the team went with the name Performante to reflect what the car can possibly achieve when it comes to performance.
Among the various things that the Lamborghini's supercar is proud of, and more or less reasons why it is a good option instead of the Porsche 918 Spyder, is the fact that it has brought in high-technology improvements to the market. The Performante is using titanium valves for the first time which leads to a "really positive effect" when it comes to maximum power and maximum torque. On top of the power improvements, the tuning of the suspension has also been revised, making it around ten percent stiffer than the past. Also, the anti-roll bars was updated.
The Performante's price will start at around $274,400. Availability of the vehicle will then start around summer of this year.
