‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Cast Reunites For 20th Anniversary; Sarah Michelle Gellar Chooses Angel Over Spike

After two decades since the first episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” television series aired, the cast and its creators finally reunite to reminisce. It was the first time Sarah Michelle Gellar saw the cast again. During the momentous event, the said actress revealed that she prefers Angel over Spike.

“Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The beloved vampire teenage television series, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” aired its first episode on Mar. 10, 1997. Since then, it has become a favorite and secured a spot as one of the iconic and most memorable supernatural television series of all time. The series wasn’t just all about slaying vampires but the main characters, Buffy and her friends also had to survive high school like any typical teenager. “It’s the ultimate metaphor: horrors of adolescence manifesting through these actual monsters,” Sarah Michelle Gellar described.

The reunion of the cast included a photo shoot and the stars sharing about what they’ve been doing for the past years since the series ended. The series creator, Joss Whedon was disappointed to see that none of the cast aged that much in the past two decades. Aside from Whedon and Gellar, the reunion was also attended by Amber Benson, Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Seth Green, Emma Caulfield, Charisma Carpenter, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kristine Sutherland, Nicholas Brendon, and Alexis Denisof.

Team Angel Or Team Spike?

Gellar played the role of the young femme fatale, Buffy Summers in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. As her enemies grew stronger and in numbers, she also gradually gained allies, which was referred to as the Scooby Gang, that would help her in solving the many mysteries surrounding Sunnydale. In the course of the series, Buffy gained two love interests who were both vampires namely Angel and Spike.

Fans have always been curious who Gellar preferred and it turns out she believes that Angel has always been number one for Buffy since they shared something beautiful. Gellar pointed out though that Spike was also someone Buffy needed because he understood a different side of her. Whedon can’t decide who to choose but he believes Buffy and Angel’s love story is the grandest story he has ever told.
