Tracy McGrady is regarded as one of the most talented scorers in the history of the NBA. As confirmed yesterday, the multiple All-Star will be spearheading the class of 2017 Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame.
Tracy McGrady Was A Legend
NBA Legend Kobe Bryant has stated before that Tracy McGrady is the hardest player he has ever guarded in his entire career. For those who doesn’t know Tracy McGrady, especially the younger generations, there are plenty of video highlights on YouTube. McGrady’s numbers speak for itself. He is a multiple-scoring champion, a multiple All-Star, a vicious assassin and a poster making machine.
McGrady’s career doesn’t have the smoothest ride in the NBA. During his stint with the Toronto Raptors, everything seems to work just fine when the Raptors drafted his cousin, Vince Carter. However, both players are too competitive and on their way to stardom. McGrady who supposed to be the franchise player of the Raptors got outshined by Vince Carter. Tensions rise between the cousins as reported but it was debunked by McGrady stating that he is proud of his cousins' uprising.
Tmac To Hall Of Fame
Orlando Magic then signed McGrady to a lucrative contract. At that time, McGrady flourished the opportunity and served a warning throughout the NBA. McGrady won the scoring title twice but couldn’t get up the hump. McGrady’s playoff record is not pretty at all. Although he is already a bonafide superstar, McGrady cannot lead his team to a title contention. Tmac was traded to Houston Rockets and created a formidable team with Yao Ming.
On paper, the Houston Rockets looks great but not for long when Tracy McGrady suffered an injury that almost took his career. McGrady was trying to bounce back but as the NBA Legends stated, McGrady’s injury is so severe that Tmac should be thinking of quitting already. McGrady did quit and went to China. However, after a year of absence, Tmac got a call from the Spurs. McGrady was about to win a title until Ray Allen bury them with the shot.
There are doubts that Tmac wouldn’t be inducted in the Hall of Fame due to him not winning enough. Prior to the Hall of Fame announcement by the HOF Committee, McGrady had doubts if he will be in but was hopeful at the same time. The majority of the players supported Tmac’s bid to be part of the Hall of Fame and finally, the list was finalized and Tmac is in.
