When HMD Global announced its new set of Nokia phones at the MWC 2017, the company did not set an exact global launch date. What has been known is that the mobile phones will be made available Q2 of the year. Now, a clearer availability date has come to surface. According to new reports, the new phones including the Nokia 3310 will start selling this coming May.
The news came from VTECH's Victor Ng, whose track record in leaks has been quite consistent in the past. As per Ng, the Nokia 3310 will launch in Malaysia starting the end of April. The three other devices, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 on the other hand, will have staggered launch dates in May.
It is worth noting that HMD Global has already pointed out their desire to sell all of its new smartphones in 120 markets in Q2 of the year. This means that if Ng's sources are indeed reliable, all of the three Nokia smartphones alongside the 3310 will likewise launch in several markets during the mentioned timeframe.
This all lines up with the report from a few weeks ago saying that the UK also expects the new Nokia mobile phones by May. Apparently, Clove published listings for the new Nokia phones. This includes the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 3310 and the supposedly Carphone exclusive Nokia 6. Clove shared that it expects its Nokia stock in June.
With that said, there is good chance that Ng's sources are pretty accurate. If the Nokia phones are starting international release by May, then it could hit the UK in a few weeks' time. It is worth noting that as per Neowin, Ng accurately leaked that Microsoft is selling off its Nokia feature phone business last year, just a few days before the official announcement. This evidences the high possibility that Ng's Nokia launch speculation is indeed true.
