Injustice 2: Fourth Shattered Alliances Trailer Hints At Darker Story And Gameplay

With only several months left before Injustice 2's official launch, NetherRealm Studios continues to reveal more details about the upcoming superhero fighting game. The studio recently launched the fourth part of the Shattered Alliances trailer, which reveals additional details to the game's plot. This time, the trailer hints a foreboding future for the Flash.

Since the game focuses on the DC Universe comic books, the chance of Flash's revival is still possible even if he dies when facing his ultimate challenge. The trailer shows the simian supervillain Gorilla Grodd and his evil plans to conquer the world alongside a team of bad guys called as Society.

Aside from Grodd, the group consists of characters such as Scarecrow, Deadshot, Cheetah, Captain Cold, Poison Ivy, Bane and Catwoman. Shattered Alliances part 4 reveals Batman sending out a mole in Gorilla City to know what Grodd is plotting. Furthermore, it shows a clip of Harley Quinn's audio breaking the ranks of the Society. Some suspects that Harley Quinn was the spy that Batman sent. Apparently, the trailer also shows Gorilla Godd throwing Harley to the ground which adds more information regarding her role in the game, as Game Rant reported.

During the last part of the video, it shows both Deadshot and Captain Cold plotting to kill Barry Allen also known as the Flash. This scheme aims to deliver a powerful jab to the heroes and shatter the Justice League. The trailer ends with Captain Cold pointing his cold gun towards Flash, intending to do the final shot to end Allen's life. However, it should be noted that the nature of comic book stories feature last minute backup to save the Flash.

Nonetheless, it appears that NetherRealm Studios is making efforts to set Injustice 2 apart from the first game in more ways possible. Not only regarding on the DC Universe's lore but also on the gameplay, which appears to be more ahead than the first Injustice.

Injustice 2 is set to be released on May 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
