The world's only seven-star hotel is redefining luxury travel and travel technology as it offers each of its guests a 24-carat gold-plated iPad 3.
When visitors check in, the hotel staff will give them their own gold-plated iPads that will double as a virtual concierge. The device will be pre-loaded with information and applications that will help guests know about the hotel's different restaurants, spa treatments, butler services, housekeeping, and other offerings.
The gold-plated Apple iPads were custom-made for the Burj Al Arab by London-based company Gold & Co.
"The 24-carat Gold Plated iPad is the ultimate in luxury accessories so it's only natural that we wanted it to be paired with Burj Al Arab, the world's finest hotel. The symmetry is obvious: Both the Gold Plated iPad and the hotel are unique in terms of quality, mystique and dare we say: Decadence. Quite simply, there is no hotel in the world like the Burj Al Arab and there is no accessory quite like the gold plated iPad. The multi-layer 24 carat gold plating breezes past all known quality control checks, just like the Burj Al Arab and soon, we envisage wealthy individuals all over the world clamouring to get their hands on our world class product," the website of Gold & Co. described the custom iPad.
One may smell the stench of luxury with the use of the gold-plated iPads but with guests paying at least $1,500 a night for a double room, consumers can expect a hotel like the Burj Al Arab to provide such luxury amenities.
The iPad is not the only Apple product provided by the luxury hotel for its guests. Each of the 202 rooms is equipped with an iMac. The gadget adds to the luxury of its amenities that include Jacuzzis, walk-in showers, large high-definition televisions, and a world-renowned butler service.
Hotel guests can use the iPads during their stay but in case they want to keep the luxury tablet and want to bring them home, they can buy the gold-plated iPad at the hotel's boutique.
A report on BusinessInsider said that it is not the first time for Burj Al Arab to use iPads for its operation. Back in 2012, the hotel showcased a rose-gold iPad engraved with its logo and a pink ribbon in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
