Because the number four is associated with bad luck in China, there won't be OnePlus 4. The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus will name their newest flagship smartphone as OnePlus 5. It will be the successor of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus3T.
A few days ago, a news leak exposed revealing some of the purported price, launch date and updates of the next flagship smartphone. Today, OnePlus 5 has been spotted once again and it shows more details about the smartphone. This time, the product is spotted in China's Radio Regulation Authority database, which gave away almost the complete information about the device.
According to The Huffington Post, WinFuture's Ronald Quandt discovered the OnePlus A5000 in a public listing at the MIIT. He tweeted out that OnePlus has filed with Chinese regulators for the upcoming new flagship. The listing seems to list several technical details with regards to the phone’s frequencies.
The upcoming OnePlus 5 will most likely come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which is the latest processor of the firm. Some rumors suggest that the smartphone will have a display of 5.5-inch QHD. In addition to that, the company might also ramp up the RAM of the OnePlus 5 to 8 GB from 6 GB.
The camera of the OnePlus 5 will be dual with both 23 MP and OIS on the rear. Performing with the current trend, there's also a possibility that OnePlus will ditch the front fingerprint sensor to have more space for the screen. OnePlus 3T had a 3,400 mAh battery capacity while the rumored range for OnePlus 5 is 3,000 mAh, which if true would be strange.
According to Gizbot, the release of OnePlus 5 is already confirmed by the company. However, the exact launch date of it is not revealed yet, though smartphone enthusiasts know it is going to happen in the coming months. Few sources assume that the launch date of OnePlus 5 is all set for Q2 of 2017, which means we will be able to own this handset before the end of June. OnePlus 5 might come out with a price tag that will be no higher than $500.
