Microsoft Surface Book, Surface Pro 4 Just Got Better

Microsoft announced a good news to all Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 users. The tech firm has just released new firmware updates for both devices that already have the Windows 10 Creators Update. Microsoft also confirmed that these updates should improve video playback even when the device is offline, as well as some improvements to Cortana speech recognition.

Audio & Video Playback Update

One of the two updates that Microsoft Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 owners will expect is the video playback improvement. The support from Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller claimed to improve the audio, as well as the video playback on installed apps while offline. In the meantime, the Surface Pro 4 also gets the Intel Smart Sound Technology updates which will improve video playback. This also comes along more improvements detailed in the release notes.

All users of the Surface Book or Surface Pro 4 who have installed the Creators Update will be able to download the latest firmware updates, according to Trusted Reviews. Perform the update manually by clicking on to Start button and select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update. After that, click on the "Check for updates" option and install the latest release.

Cortana Speech Recognition Update

According to TechRadar, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will no get the Realtek update for Cortana. However, it has received the Cortana boost at the end of last year. This is because the Surface Book is playing the real catch-up here. Microsoft's top-notch hybrid device is getting the Realtek High Definition Audio updates which will enhance the Cortana speech recognition.

In order to experience this firmware update, first and foremost, the Surface Book should be running the Creators Update. The owner of the Microsoft device can manually check it by clicking the Start button, Settings, then Update & Security. After that, select the Windows Update and click on the Check for Updates to start running the process.
