The LG G6 will have a mini version that can potentially be known as the G6 Lite. This bit of news supports previous rumors that LG will release other versions of the G6.
The mini LG G6 will supposedly come with a 5.4-inch display with a screen-to-body ratio of 18:9 similar to the G6. That figure points to an 80 percent ratio. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a screen-to-body ratio of 83 percent.
TechnoBuffalo got the tip from an anonymous source. The source provided an internal document that is said to be sensitive in nature thus TechnoBuffalo's decision not to publish it. The website did share what was on that document and it's supposed to be a smaller LG G6.
The website did not share other details about the possible LG G6 mini though there is the possibility that the rumored smaller version may come with at least some of the G6's features. The LG G6 comes with a 5.7-inch "full vision" display with 1440 x 2880 pixel resolution and is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor. These two features will not likely make it to the smaller LG G6.
LG previously trademarked a number of names back in February that points at the possibility of different G6 versions. The first batch included G6 Compact, G6 Fit, G6 Forte, G6 Hybrid, G6 Lite, G6 Prix, G6 Sense, and G6 Young. It was quickly followed by G6 One, G6 C, G6 L, G6 M. The nearest one to a mini G6 is the Lite moniker.
Android Central pointed out that LG has already succeeded in increasing its mobile sales up by 10 percent by selling an estimated 14.8 million phones in Q1 of 2017. A large portion of that figure is courtesy of the LG G6. By introducing an LG G6 mini or an LG G6 Lite, the tech company will be able to compete against the likes of the Galaxy S8 due to its expected affordability to go with impressive specs and sleek design.
