Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tops Zelda: Breath Of The Wild According To Amazon Sales

Zelda: Breath of the Wild was Nintendo Switch's must-by item when the system was recently announced. However, now it seems like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has beaten the action-adventure game in terms of sales.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tops Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

According to Polygon, MK8D is already the top-selling video game of the year judging by popularity on Amazon. So far, the two top spots are occupied by the PlayStation Store gift cards with the racing game coming in at a solid third, even if the game merely launched a day ago. It is worth noting that the Amazon list updates every day.

Even so, the Kart racing game even managed to top Breath of the Wild that has been the best-selling game on the system thus far. Moreover, the latest Zelda installment has even outsold the Switch itself with 2.76 million copies sold worldwide.

MK8D might just be a Wii U port of the original 2014 game but Nintendo has added a few new tweaks to entice new players and bring back veterans. The game itself was the best-selling title in Wii U history with over 8.31 million copies sold since March 31, 2017. Despite this, it still seems like Switch players will jump the gun and buy a copy.

Reminder About Nintendo's Online Services

While most players might be buying the game for online multiplayer, GamesRadar shares that the hybrid console will begin charging players for the online services later this year. Once Nintendo properly launches its services come fall, fans will have to shell out some cash for a paid subscription for online multiplayer.

The company has even tweeted a short clip with the caption reminding fans that the online feature is free until fall. For those unaware, the service will also come with a free monthly Virtual Console download, discounts and an online lobby with voice chat on mobile apps. Until these services come live, fans can continue enjoying Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the free online multiplayer.
