The OnePlus 5 has been a popular topic of discussion among rumor mongers and tech enthusiasts and that's for two very good reasons. First, OnePlus is known for making high-end phones at budget-friendly prices so any OnePlus device will certainly be appealing. Second, its rumored high-end features are yet to be seen on an actual device or announced in an upcoming one.
Design and Display
From what has been gathered so far, the design of the OnePlus 5 will rival the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6, two of the best high-end smartphones so far this year. The OnePlus 5 will supposedly sport a bezel-less design which is the trend moving forward. As for the display, it will come with a 5.5-inch 2K (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen with Gorilla Glass 5.
Performance
This is one category where the OnePlus 5 will make a killing. According to rumors, the device will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835, the same processor used by the Galaxy S8 and rumored to be coming in other flagship phones this year. OnePlus, not being content with just being at par with the best, will reportedly take a step further by including 6GB of RAM, 2GB more than the Galaxy S8's 4GB of RAM.
Camera
If rumors prove true, the OnePlus 5 will dominate the Galaxy S8 and other flagships in at least one aspect and that is the camera. The OnePlus 5 will supposedly come with a 23-megapixel primary camera. The S8's primary camera comes at a measly 12MP while the LG G6 sports a slightly-improved 13MP rear camera. Its front camera is highly impressive as well as it comes with 16MP, something that is rarely seen today. Even better, the OnePlus 5 is also rumored to come with a dual camera system. TechnoBuffalo noted that another publication posted a supposed render of the OnePlus 5 which showed that the device does have a dual-lens camera.
Trusted Reviews reported on a set of leaked images that claim to be shot using the OnePlus 5. If what True-Tech is saying is proven correct, then the photos taken by the OnePlus 5 is, for lack of a better word, astounding. The photographs contain EXIF data which provided details about the images including it being taken by a certain OnePlus A5000 device. Trusted Reviews stressed that the EXIF data on photographs can easily be manipulated so there remains the possibility that the said OnePlus 5 photos are fake or at least misleading.
Other Rumored OnePlus 5 Features and Details
The OnePlus 5 will have a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, a fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.0 and 64GB up to 256GB of internal memory. It is also rumored to be launching in Q2 this year which means it's just a matter of months before the OnePlus 5 finally proves or disproves all these rumors.
The OnePlus 5's predecessor, the OnePlus 3T, sells for $439. With even better specs, the OnePlus 5 is expected to have a higher price tag which many believe will still be more affordable as compared to its competitors.
