Canadian customers are finally getting the taste of the Kindle Fire HD. Amazon launched the first-generation of Kindle Fire tablets in 2011; however, the tablet was not released in Canada. Now Amazon has confirmed that it will start selling the second-generation Kindle Fire HD to Canadian customers starting June 13.
Both the 7-inch and the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD will be available in Canada. Amazon announced that the Kindle Fire HD is now available for pre-order for customers in over 170 countries around the world, shipping June 13.
Dave Limp, Vice President, Amazon Kindle said "Kindle Fire HD is the #1 best-selling item in the world for Amazon since its launch, and we're thrilled to make it available to even more customers around the globe today. Not only does Kindle Fire feature advanced hardware, it's also a service. When combined with our content ecosystem, great email and browsing and top-rated customer service, we hope people around the world will agree that Kindle Fire HD is the best tablet for an incredible price."
Canadian customers have just seen the basic Kindle e-reader and the Paperwhite model till now. But with the launch of the Kindle Fire HD, Canadians can access online entertainment via the latest Amazon offering.
The 7-inch tablet is available in 16/32GB storage options and will have a price tag of $214 and $244. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is also available in 16/32GB storage versions priced at $284 and $314.
Amazon had launched the Kindle Fire HD as a competitor to the market leader iPad. But with other brands like Google, Samsung and more offering their tablets, Amazon may face stiff competition in Canada.
