The San Antonio Spurs bounced back the other day when they defeated the Houston Rockets convincingly thanks to their team chemistry. However, on the same night, they lost their floor general Tony Parker due to an injury.
There is no doubt that San Antonio Spurs was able to adjust already against the offensive minded Houston Rockets. During their first game, the Rockets showed their brilliance by shooting the lights out and easily getting passed the Spurs defense. Kawhi Leonard who promised to clamp down the MVP candidate, James Harden, basically destroyed The Beard's rhythm. The only problem is, Tony Parker will not be able to join the team for the rest of the playoffs.
Derrick Rose On The Move
The trade rumors about acquiring Chris Paul or Derrick Rose intensified after Parker's injury. Prior to the playoffs, there were various speculations that Derrick Rose is ready to take a pay cut to play for a championship contender team. Rose did acknowledge those speculations but did not confirm if he was rooting for San Antonio Spurs.
According to ESPN and NBA on TNT, the former MVP's only chance to win an NBA Title is to join the mighty Spurs. San Antonio is tight-lipped about the situation but multiple insiders state that Derrick Rose is one of their targets.
CP3 And TD's Wake Forest Connection
On the other hand, Chris Paul who again suffered first-round playoff loss is visibly not happy with his current situation. During his interview, Chris Paul voiced out his frustration and basing on the information that he was providing, it's either the Clippers surround him with a dependable cast or it will be the end of Chris Paul era in Clipper Land.
The Spurs are again the frontrunners and a possible destination for Paul for a variety of reasons. The Wake Forest connection between Paul and Tim Duncan will likely carry on and CP3 is a floor general that the Spurs need once Tony Parker retires. The only question right now is, who will they choose? Would it be the former MVP or the relentless floor general in CP3?
