Microsoft is not done yet. A few days after unveiling the new Windows 10 S operating system and the impressive Surface Laptop, the tech company is set to reveal more before the month ends. Microsoft just announced that it will hold an important event on May 23 in Shanghai. This early, tech enthusiasts are salivating at the thought of a Microsoft Surface Pro 5 being unveiled at the said event.
The announcement indicated that the company is set to "show the world what's next" at the China event. No other details came with the announcement except for the event's hashtag, #MicrosoftEvent, and instructions to check out the web page for updates and more information.
According to The Verge, however, Microsoft confirmed to them that it will indeed reveal a new hardware. Microsoft VP Panos Panay also gave out some clues after he tweeted the event along with the hashtag "#Surface". Panay will be present at the event giving more credence to the rumor that a major announcement, such as a Surface Pro 5 launch, will be made.
While a Surface Pro 5 unveiling will definitely be a welcome development, BGR stressed the possibility that a different new hardware will be introduced. That Surface Book 2 has also been rumored to launch this year and it just might make it to the Shanghai event either as the star of the show or part of the new line-up of devices Microsoft will launch this month.
A Microsoft Surface Pro 5 launch has been rumored for months now and many thought it would finally make an appearance at the last press conference which instead gave us the new education-centered laptop and OS. Despite the Surface Laptop being impressive in itself, fans still clamor for the newest version of the Surface Pro.
One of the strongest rumors about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is that it will be powered by AMD's latest Ryzen processor. The rumor came about after a video teaser for the film "Alien: Covenant" showed what looked a lot like a Surface Pro. The teaser was sponsored by AMD hence the speculations. As it stands, all will be revealed on May 23.
