Fire Emblem Main Series Bids Farewell To The 3DS After Echoes

Fire Emblem Echoes will be releasing later this month and also acts as a sendoff to the series on the Nintendo 3DS. The future of the franchise will carry on to the Switch with a new title releasing quite soon.

Fire Emblem Franchise Leaves The Nintendo 3DS

The Fire Emblem franchise found a new home in the 3DS after being on the verge of cancellation following a long hiatus. Awakening had breathed new life in the series with Fates releasing a few years later. Despite its immense success, it seems like Nintendo has different plans for the series after the release of its upcoming and final title, Echoes of Valencia.

According to Digital Trends, producer Hitoshi Yamagami revealed that Echoes will be the latest traditional turn-based tactics game in the franchise arriving on the handheld. However, it is worth noting that this excludes Fire Emblem Warriors which is a spinoff title arriving on both the 3DS and Switch later this year.

The upcoming tactics game is a reimagining of the original Gaiden title that was released years back. The game also features new content like exploration along with updated combat mechanics. The next main FE title will arrive next year on the hybrid console. It is worth noting that the last time the series had gotten a game for home consoles was back in 2007 with that being Radiant Dawn.

Fire Emblem Echoes Season Pass

Those who are looking into Echoes might also be interested in the upcoming downloadable content (DLC). Polygon shares that there will be a total of five packs that includes new maps and dungeons. Although, the fourth pack will also introduce a new character to the game.

Players who choose to buy each pack separately will spend around $51. With this in mind, players should turn to the season pass instead which costs $44.99. Fire Emblem Echoes will be releasing on the Nintendo 3DS on May 19.
