Porsche has surprised fans when it made an appearance at the Nürburgring with a new fast record. They unveiled how the new 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 is also a force to reckon with on the tracks.
New 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Is The Best So Far
The Porsche 911 GT3 is a high-performance two-door sports car that was launched in 1999. The newest 2018 model was unveiled earlier this year and Porsche announced that they were not keen on being the king of the ring. However, it seems like that doesn’t matter after Porsche shows up at the Nürburgring motorsports complex, displaying the new Porsche 911 GT3’s speed.
Porsche have announced that the new GT3 has reached a new record, revealing that it was 12.3 seconds faster than its previous record. The lap time has impressed many and the speed comes from a spectacular engine. Andreas Preuninger, head of Porsche GT cars, revealed that the 2018 911 GT3 is the best GT3 yet because it boasts of new improvements that include aerodynamic efficiency, less internal resistance that gives the wheels more power, and a new manual transmission.
Is 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 The Fastest One At The Nürburgring?
The new Porsche 911 GT3 record was not actually an announcement that it is the fastest car around. It showcased how much the improvements on the said car have paid off and revealed a new benchmark for the company. The fastest car to set off the best record at the Nürburgring was the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which finished at 6:52.01.
Though the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 wasn’t the fastest one in the Nürburgring track with a record of 7:12.7, it still bested other car’s records. It bested Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Ferrari 488 GTB, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and even their very own Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which all had records under eight minutes. The record that comes close to Porsche GT3’s new lap time is from Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package that finished at 7:14.64.
