Supposed Leaks Reveal 'Far Cry 5' Settings And Story Details

A few days ago, supposed leaks have speculated that Ubisoft will release Far Cry 5 as Western-themed game. Just last week, the developer officially confirmed that the fifth installment of the Far Cry series is being developed and will launch within the year. Now, reports claim that a leak has revealed the game's story settings as well as a love interest for the game's protagonist.

Sources note that an individual who claims to have been a participant of a focus testing group for Far Cry 5 last year, has reportedly shared some relevant information about the upcoming title. Game Rant states that the leak confirms the recent news, which confirmed that a film crew was working on a live-action game trailer in Montana. However, the game's Wild West setting has been debunked by the individual.

The game will apparently be in a modern-day setting together with its weapons and vehicles. Far Cry 5 is going to center on a "religious cult" that is comprised of "Doomsday-preppers bent on furthering their cause." The game's location is obviously set in Montana and the "hilly, mountainous" areas will work to the enemy's advantage. According to the leaks, the main antagonist will be a "shirtless lunatic leader brandishing an assault rifle in one hand and a Bible in the other."

The leaks also confirm that the second-in-command among the baddies is "an A-list celebrity who became a ranking member of the high council," jokingly likened to Tom Cruise. It is currently unknown if Ubisoft will follow through with the intended similarities for Far Cry 5. After all, the developer would not want to encounter a lawsuit just like Rockstar did with Lindsay Lohan due a likeness in Grand Theft Auto V.

Along with Far Cry 5, Ubisoft has confirmed that it will release The Crew 2 and a new Assassin's Creed game within the financial year. With E3 2017 just around the corner, fans can expect the developer to make an official announcement about the game during their scheduled press conference come June.
