Boss Key recently announced that it would release a PS4 version of LawBreakers soon. Previously, the game developer was hesitant in developing a version on this platform claiming that they will require a partner to do it. Apparently, the game developer has now realized that the only way to produce this version is by doing it internally.
Lawbreakers PS4 Version Is Arriving Later This Year
Created by ex-Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski, LawBreakers PS4 version is a first-person shooter for budget-conscious gamers. It is priced at only $29.99. Its PS4 release will be timed with its release for Steam which is slated later this year. The developer made no mention of an Xbox One release at this stage.
Arjan Brussee, COO of Boss Key revealed that they need Cliff to be in controls of the development of LawBreakers PS4 version. He added that they realized that they couldn't let an outsider do that. However, creating a version for this platform did not distract them from the development of the game's PC version which is being beta-tested right now.
PC Version Is Now Running Smoothly
The COO claims that the PC version of LawBreakers is now running more smoothly than before. Brussee explained that they made that possible because they took advantage of the synergies present in the console development. Perhaps they could use the same synergies to leverage the development of the Xbox One version.
But There Will Be No Cross-Play With PC Players
Boss Key also revealed that PS4 Pro support for LawBreakers would be available. The developer said that it would have a higher framerate as one of its features. However, whether players use PS4 or PS4 Pro, they will not be able to see PC players. Bleszinski even said that "cross-play is dumb."
All Future Contents Will Be Given Free
Boss Key also announced that all future contents for LawBreakers PS4 version would be released without cost. The game developer promised that the video game would not have any "pay to win" mechanics. Additionally, cosmetics for this version will be for sale which can be earned in-game.
Fans who have been anticipating its release will have their chance to see more of LawBreakers PS4 version at the upcoming E3 2017 in June. It may even be presented during one of Sony's PlayStation livestream event. Boss Key did not specify the exact release date yet.
