Another beloved series is rumored to be taken off the network. News of FX renewing “Fargo” for a fourth season reportedly looks bleak.
“Fargo”, a black comedy crime drama television series, made its debut in April 2014. The series has been enjoying high ratings and highly acclaimed positive reviews from various critics. However, it seems like this will not be enough to sustain the show for another installment.
It has been revealed that chief of FX Network, John Landgraf has voiced out that there is a possibility that “Fargo” Season 4 might not happen at all. In fact, it seems like they are actually planning to wrap things up in the third season. He explained that a renewal can only be considered if the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, comes up with an idea and story as great as the ones in the three seasons.
Landgraf opened up to Hollywood Reporter and pointed out that by this time, viewers and fans alike will have realized at the end of “Fargo” Season 3 that each season is thematically different. He added that “it’s really about the moment we live in now.” With a story that changes every season, Hawley is being pressured into coming up with a novel idea that will keep the story interesting and the viewers hooked otherwise FX will be forced to pull the plug off the series.
Hawley admitted in the past that he himself is not even sure if there will be a new season for “Fargo”. He revealed that whenever he is working on a season of “Fargo”, he never thinks of the future. His way of writing for the show was telling one story at a time. He added that if he had any other stories in mind, especially ones he wants to share, he does not make haste to do so.
