The development of Final Fantasy 7 remake is going on, but Square Enix said that the process will have a major development change. This was announced by the game publisher at a recent livestream event. It appears that the company is now using its internal resources to complete the project.
Square Enix Will No Longer Depend On Outside Help
This would mean Square Enix will no longer depend on outside help to complete the development of Final Fantasy 7. Square Enix also made it clear during the livestream event that it is changing the way the video game will be made compatible with the current generation consoles.
Hamaguchi Will Be The Project Lead
In this respect, it now appears that Haoki Hamaguchi will be the man responsible for leading the Final Fantasy 7 remake development team. Hamaguchi revealed that he will take charge of the video game's development side as the project lead. He added that Square Enix wanted complete control of the project, so it has decided to use its internal resources.
Square Enix Wants To Ensure High Quality Of Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Apparently, this will ensure the high quality of Final Fantasy 7 remake even during its mass production since the development process will be on a stable schedule. Hamaguchi has been busy as the project lead of Lightning Returns: FFXIII and Mobius. With this recent update, it seems most of his time will now be spent on the development of FF 7 remake, although he said he won't be abandoning Mobius at all.
The Company Was Not Impressed With Its Outside Help
The ongoing development of Final Fantasy 7 remake was done with the help of Square Enix's external partners up until last week. However, SE was not impressed with the results. It appears that the company wants FF 7 to be developed faster with Mobius taking the second priority.
The gaming community first heard of Final Fantasy 7 remake in E3 2015. However, very little information was provided by Square Enix about its development, until now. Hopefully, this project will see the light of day with this major development change in the company.
