After suffering much delay, it seems Star Trek: Bridge Crew finally sees the light of day. Ubisoft has released the title, and it is now available on PS4 and PC, but gamers need to have VR headsets like the HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, and Oculus Rift. This VR title was originally announced at E3 2016. Is it worth the wait?
HTC Will Give A Free Copy To HTC Vive Buyers
In addition to Ubisoft's announcement, HTC also announced that it will give a free copy of Star Trek: Bridge Crew for every customer who will buy its Vive head-mounted display. This piece of gadget is not that cheap. It costs $700 a piece with its two motion controllers and a full room scale virtual reality.
Four Players Will Take The Role Of The Crew
The gameplay of Star Trek: Bridge Crew is set in the new Star Trek universe based on J.J. Abrams' 2009 movie of the same generic title. A maximum of four players can play the game at the same time. They will take the role of the crew of the spaceship. One will be the captain; the three others will be the Engineer, Tactical, and Helm.
They will be allowed to pilot two ships in Star Trek: Bridge Crew. One ship is called U.S.S Enterprise NCC=1701, the iconic one used in the original movie, and the other is the U.S.S. Aegis. In this VR game, they will explore deep space using these two Federation spaceships.
Online Cooperative Mode Is The Standout Feature
Star Trek: Bridge Crew offers gamers a solo campaign. However, the excitement of the game will be experienced by players if they face their tasks together. This is the standout feature of this VR game, its online cooperative mode that forces gamers to play as a team if they want to accomplish their mission objectives successfully.
PS4 and PC users can now buy Star Trek: Bridge Crew at the PlayStation Store and other retailers at $49.99. Gamers need to be aware that they need to have a VR headset such as Oculus Rift or HTC Vive on PC and PS VR on PS4 in order to play the video game.
