The latest tidbit of news out of the iPad 5 rumor mill should ring pretty familiar for anyone who makes it a point to stay abreast of developments concerning unreleased iOS devices. This week, we're looking at yet another alleged iPad 5 case that comes by way of a video posted to a French tech site.
The iPad 5 case shown in the video would fit an iPad 5 with slimmer dimensions than its predecessor, however the screen would be larger. Perhaps most notably, the design suggests much thinner bezels around the screen, more in line with the design of the iPad mini.
As always, take the news with a grain of salt, as it is absolutely unlikely that Apple commissioned this case or provided any kind of official iPad 5 specs for the dimensions.
The implication with these kinds of stories is that the dimensions were provided through one of Apple's many manufacturing partners in Asia, such a Foxconn and Pegatron. Often enough, leaks of this nature do indeed occur, but far more often they are fake and the so-called "leaks" are simply the product of someone's imagination.
Apple will most likely announce the release date for their next-generation tablet at WWDC 2013, but in the meantime, a veritable cornucopia of information has been gleaned from third parties looking to manufacture iPad 5 accessories that will be ready on launch day. Of course, we won't know which, if any, of these iPad 5 rumors are true until Apple reveals the actual tablet, but the guessing game has become a sacred and hallowed tradition in between product cycles.
While the video and images of the iPad 5 case appear to be credited to French tech site NoWhereElse, it is also possible that the case was first reported by Vietnamese site Tinhte. Frankly, this reporter can't read French or Vietnamese, so if any of our more linguistically talented readers are able to get to the bottom of the matter, please let us know in the comments and we'll post an update.
