Canadian carrier TELUS has now started selling the white version of the BlackBerry Q10.
In January this year, BlackBerry launched the much-awaited BlackBerry 10 operating system. The company also launched the full touchscreen BlackBerry Z10 along with the QWERTY handset BlackBerry Q10.
The QWERTY handset took a while to hit the shelves and finally made its way to consumers in Q2 2013 and was made available only in black. In Canada, Rogers was the first carrier to offer the BlackBerry Q10. Even though other carriers started selling the handset soon, Rogers was the only one selling the white version of the handset.
Now, TELUS is selling both the color options of the BlackBerry Q10 at a price tag of $199 on a three-year contract and for $700 outright. Rogers is also offering the white and the black colors of the handset and the device is priced at par with TELUS' prices.
Previous rumors also indicated that Bell will also start offering the white BlackBerry Q10 from July 5 onwards but at the time of writing, the new color was not available on the carrier's website.
Along with a QWERTY keyboard, the BlackBerry Q10 sports a 3.1-inch 720p touchscreen, a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4470 processor, 2GB of RAM, NFC, a microSD slot and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The BlackBerry Q10 will definitely attract BlackBerry fans looking out for a top-end QWERTY styled handset. However, the attached price tag seems quite steep when compared to smartphones such as the iPhone 5, HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. All the handsets have either the same or lower price when compared to the BlackBerry Q10.
The current smartphone space is dominated by handsets that boast of big touchscreen displays. So we have to wait and see if the white color option of the BlackBerry Q10 is able to attract more customers.
