The 2022 Funko Fair introduces a lot of new collections that fans can look forward to. Most releases seem inspired by the anime industry like "Fairy Tail" and "Black Clover." However, game alternatives like "Pokemon" Funko also tease the incoming Lapras, Leafeon, and Piplup.
Funko Fair 2022: Collectibles and Merchandise
For reference, Funko Inc is an American toy company that manufactures licensed pop culture collectibles. The company sells anything from plush and action figures to apparel and accessories. Notably, its trademark product is a bunch of bobbleheads called Pop! figurines.
In these past few days, from Feb 15 to 18, the company celebrated its Funko Fair 2022. Marvel said that this event revealed new items in retail stores that are arriving soon and available for pre-order.
Note however that since most of these products are still being manufactured, not all of them will be available. Fans might have to wait for a few more days before they can finalize their purchase on Funko merchandise.
Funko Collection: Funko Pop Figures Announced
Sources from Comicbook highlighted three collections announced in Funko Fair 2022. These collections are "Fairy Tail," "Black Clover," and "Pokemon."
To clarify, "Fairy Tail" is not a new Funko Pop collection. However, it is getting new characters like Erza Scarlet, Jellal Fernandes, Mavis Vermillion, Laxus Dreyar, and Mirajane Strauss.
Note that Jellal, Mavis, and Laxus are all in their default costume. On the other hand, Erza features her "Clear Heart Clothing" armor together with a complementary katana, while Mirajane is on her Season 4 default costume.
"Black Clover" is an anime series that ended last year, so a lot of fans might probably be excited to finally see it gain some recognition. Its first wave of Funko Pop figurines consists of Asta, Yuno, and Noelle, notably the protagonists of the series.
However, fans interested in the premium variants can also check on the lightning mage, Luck. Sources say the Luck Voltia Pop is a AAA anime exclusive. Note that the figure comes in two versions. The first figure features Luck unleashing a magical storm from his grimoire. The second version features Luck with glow-in-the-dark thunder claws.
Lastly, fans can look forward to three new Pokemon which are Lapras, Leafeon, and Piplup. Typical of the Pokemon line-up, all the collectibles feature cute big-eyed versions of the characters.
Comicbook also mentioned a few fun facts about these Pokemon:
- Lapras Funko Pop: A Water/Ice type Pokemon introduced in Generation 1. It is known as the Transport Pokemon.
- Leafeon Funko Pop: A Grass type Pokemon introduced in Generation 4. It is known as the Verdant Pokemon.
- Piplup Funko Pop: A Water type Pokemon introduced in Generation 4. It is known as the Penguin Pokemon.
Unfortunately, the actual date when these Funko Pops will be available was not discussed. For now, fans are recommended to watch out for more updates.
