The latest iPhone 14 leak showed the shocking absence of the promising 120Hz ProMotion display feature. In relation to this rumor, another report also claimed that the trial production for the device is in now in progress.

iPhone 14 Leak Shows Absence of 120Hz Pro Motion Display

According to a report from Notebook Check, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are the first Apple devices to have a 120Hz refresh rate, which was marketed as a "ProMotion" display.

For those curious about the ProMotion display, Apple Insider explained that it contains adaptive refresh rates and reaction times, which means the screen may adjust its refresh rate dynamically to fit whatever is being presented.

Additionally, the 120Hz frequency is often utilized for interacting with the interface, allowing less delays while sketching with the Apple Pencil.

The technology also enables Apple device owners to have a smooth scrolling experience as compared to the other iPhone models.

Despite the benefit it brings, The Elec (via Forbes) claimed that the latest iPhone 14 leak showed that the 120Hz ProMotion display will not be available on the expected device.

As Forbes noted, the Cupertino-based technology company is taking a risk with the absence of the 120Hz ProMotion display since the majority of the mid-range smartphones contains high-refresh-rate screens.

If this rumor is true, it means Apple will be offering a downgraded refresh rate version of an iPhone.

However, it is worth noting that higher refresh rates have their drawbacks as well.

For instance, Digital Trends reported that increased battery usage is the most significant downside. To provide further details, the higher the refresh rate means putting more strain on the battery life.

Apple Trial Production Underway

In another iPhone 14 rumor, Apple's top supplier, Foxconn, is said to have begun trial production of the iPhone 14 Pro. This indicates that Apple has completed its design as it goes into the early phases of device manufacturing, per Taiwan Economic Times through MacRumors.

According to the report, Foxconn will produce the higher-end variants of iPhone 14, while Luxshare, another Apple supplier, will handle the lower-end models of the iPhone 14. In addition to this, Foxconn will begin OEM trial production of the iPhone 14 Pro to confirm that it can meet Apple's quality requirements before mass production later this year.

For those unfamiliar, both iPhone 14 and the Pro version are expected to have the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5's design choices.

Aside from this claim, MacRumors added that well-known Apple leaker Jon Prosser asserted that the iPhone 14 Pro Max would have a larger overall chassis and no camera hump. Circular volume controls and reworked speaker grills are hinted in the same renderings.

It is worth noting, however, that the tech giant has yet to address the mentioned iPhone 14 rumors. With that said, it is best to take these with a pinch of salt until Apple officially makes their announcement.
