Fans of the "God of War" franchise are getting some exciting news. Prime Video is in negotiations for a live-action TV series based on the popular PlayStation game.
Deadline says the "The Expanse" executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, and "The Wheel of Time" showrunner Rafe Judkins will be responsible for the show. Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions will collaborate with the team to ensure the TV series is properly adapted from the game. Sony and Amazon Studios are speculated to co-produce the show.
'God of War' Live-Action Series Teased
Unfortunately for fans, not much detail was revealed about the show itself. So it is hard to set up expectations for the incoming series.
Sources did not elaborate on the number of episodes launching for the show. Fans are also left to speculate on the storyline and length that showrunners aim to produce. For now, fans just have to settle with the news that a few parties are interested in producing the show. Hopefully, more updates about the topic will be available later this year.
Other Games and Live-Action Series
It is worth pointing out that "God of War" is just one of the many exciting TV series based on popular video game titles. Deadline emphasized that the streaming platform Peacock is currently producing "Twisted Metal" and HBO already teased "The Last of Us" coming in 2023. Netflix is also recognized for its "Resident Evil" series and Paramount+ is about to debut its "Halo" series.
This means a lot of pressure will be pinned on a title as popular as the "God of War."
Fortunately, Amazon Studies seems ready for the challenge. Note that if "God of War" is in production, it will likely stream after the "Fallout" and "Mass Effect" series adaptation finish their streaming time.
