"Collaborations" in Tweets Now Closer Than Ever

A new way for Twitter users to link a Tweet with other users and partner with businesses is in the works.

A tweet from Alessandro Paluzzi mentioned that Twitter is working on a new feature called "Collaborations" which aims to provide Twitter users to collaborate with other users or businesses on brand ad deals, per Tech Crunch.

There is still no word of when the feature will be available to Twitter users worldwide.

Twitter "Collaborations" Details

According to Tech Crunch's article, Paluzzi first dug up the feature from the app's code in December 2021.

He then took a screenshot and tweeted it on the platform. In the screenshot Paluzzi provided, two people's Twitter handles and names will appear at the top of the tweet above its content. Paluzzi also discovered a collaborations button added to the tweet composer screen and how the co-authors' profile pictures would appear earlier this year.

In this instance, Paluzzi revealed that the profile pictures of the people listed in the collaboration overlap on top of each other in the collaborated tweet.

In a more recent discovery, Paluzzi discovered that Twitter is still developing the "Collaborations" feature, with the company adding guidelines on how it will work in the future.

According to Paluzzi's latest tweet on the feature, the "Collaborations" feature will allow people to invite other accounts to collaborate with them (or co-own a tweet), whether they be another Twitter user or a brand.

However, they would have to invite the person or brand they want to collaborate with to share the ownership of the resulting tweet. Once the invitation is accepted, the tweet will be published and the other Twitter user or brand will be shown as a co-author, just as Paluzzi demonstrated in earlier tweets.

Further, Paluzzi warned that people could only invite users who have a public account and follows them back, as shown on another screenshot.

Paluzzi then told Tech Crunch that he didn't find anything in Twitter's code that would limit the feature's availability to select users, such as those using Twitter's Super Follows.

Twitter's Other Upcoming Features

"Collaborations" is not the only feature being worked on by Twitter. The company previously teased the ability to write "full articles," which would allow users to create posts beyond the 280-character limit currently placed on the platform. This particular feature was leaked by Twitter and app researcher Jane Manchun Wong.

It is also working on a feature that allows users to leave a conversation and ignore notifications or prevent other users from mentioning people who left in that same conversation.

Additionally, Twitter recently released a new feature that would allow people using iOS devices to create GIFs to add to their tweets with the promise to add the same feature to Android devices in the future.
