Samsung may launch a refreshed Galaxy Note 2 with a Snapdragon 600 processor

Many phablet enthusiasts are keenly waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Now reports suggest that the Korean company will also launch a refreshed version of the Galaxy Note 2 running on Snapdragon 600 processor.

Samsung launched the highly-popular Galaxy Note 2 at the IFA Berlin event in 2012 and the company's CEO has already announced plans to launch the successor at the IFA Berlin event this year. Many rumors suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 will feature the latest Snapdragon 800 processor, which is currently the fastest smartphone processor available.

The recently launched Sony Xperia Z Ultra is the first and currently the only smartphone announced with the Snapdragon 800 processor. So it should not come as a surprise if the Galaxy Note 3 comes packed with the latest processor to compete with the latest Sony offering. With more attention put on the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, it seems that Samsung has not forgotten about the Galaxy Note 2.

Recent reports suggest that Samsung will launch a refreshed version of the Galaxy Note 2, which will feature a Snapdragon 600 processor - the same chipset currently used by the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.

A recent GforGames report suggests that a leaked AnTuTu score for a Samsung GT-N7108D model number has appeared running on a 1.9GHz processor and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

"Although there's no mention of what type of processor we're looking at, based on the specs and score, we're evidently considering the possibility that this gadget runs on the Snapdragon 600 SoC," reports GforGames.

Many may wonder why Samsung would launch a refreshed version of the Galaxy Note 2 with a better processor. The answer could be that the Galaxy Note 2 is still one of the most-popular phablets around and Samsung may want to capitalize on this fact.

Samsung is not the only company planning to launch a refreshed version of its old handset with a faster processor. Recent rumors suggest that Sony is also prepping to launch an updated version of the Xperia Z and HTC may launch the HTC One equipped with a Snapdragon 800 processor.

None of the companies have confirmed their plan to launch the older smartphones with a faster processor.

If Samsung launches an updated version of the Galaxy Note 2 with a Snapdragon 600 processor, will you buy the phablet?
